Types of Scholarships Available in Croatia

The Croatian Government Scholarships are divided into two main categories:

1. Scholarships Under Bilateral Agreements

These are awarded to students from countries that have a bilateral agreement with Croatia. Available scholarship types include:

  • A1: One-semester Croatian language studies (4-5 months)
  • A2: Semester/partial studies for undergraduate or graduate students (4-10 months)
  • B: Full undergraduate (BA) or graduate (MA) studies (36 or 24 months)
  • C1: Full PhD studies (36 months)
  • C2: Partial PhD studies or research (1-10 months)
  • D: Postdoctoral studies or research (1-10 months)
  • E: Short-term postdoctoral research visits (3-29 days)
  • F: Summer seminar on Croatian language and literature (2 weeks)

2. Scholarships for Croatian Language Studies

These are open to students regardless of their country’s agreement status with Croatia. The available options include:

  • A1: Semester-long Croatian language studies (4-5 months)
  • F: Summer seminar on Croatian language and literature (2 weeks)

Eligibility Criteria

  • Be a citizen of a country with a bilateral agreement with Croatia (for Application Pool 1).
  • Be enrolled in a recognized university in your home country.
  • Meet the academic qualifications for the chosen program:
    • Bachelor’s Degree: Completed at least 2 semesters of undergraduate studies.
    • Master’s Degree: Hold a recognized bachelor’s degree.
    • PhD Programs: Hold a master’s degree.
    • Postdoctoral Research: Hold a PhD degree.
  • Language Proficiency Requirements:
    • Croatian language programs: Minimum B1 level in Croatian.
    • Other academic programs: Proficiency in English or Croatian, depending on the course.
  • Age Requirements:
    • Undergraduate & Master’s students: Maximum 30 years old.
    • PhD & postdoctoral candidates: No age limit.
